Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi being run by Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council (GKEC), organized one day webinar on ‘Recent Advances in research Methodology’.

More than two hundred participants including students, professionals, academicians and researchers across the globe joined the session on recent advances in research methodology that is the need of the hour for both the national and international business houses. 

Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, director, GGNIMT, in his inaugural speech said that research is simply the process of finding solution to a problem after a thorough study and analysis of the situational factors. He opined that, managers in organizations constantly engage themselves in studying and analyzing issues and hence are involved in some form of research activity as they make decisions at the workplace.

Dr. SP Singh, president GKEC and former Vice Chancellor Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, welcomed the eminent guests and participants. He said that the prime managerial value of business research is that it reduces uncertainty by providing information that improves the decision-making process.

While delivering the rationale of the webinar, Prof Shallu Sood, Business Management, GGNIMT, discussed in details about the Research Methodology, its objectives and Major implications of research in business.

Dr. C.B Gupta, Professor Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, talked about the scientific method in research and the postulates in scientific methods.  He focused on role of research in decision making including three steps i.e. Intelligence, designing and Choice. He explained the participants about the research problems, various sources and criteria of selection.

Dr. R Suresh, Professor of Mathematics, Veltech University, Chennai, he emphasized upon the meaning, objectives, types and process of research and its relevance in the present world. He talked about Big data, how its works and the various challenges being phased by the research with big data. He also touch upon the relevance and importance of various data analysis soft wares like SPSS, R environment and MATLAB.

In another technical session, Dr. N.P Singh, Associate Professor, Jagan Institute of Management Studies, Delhi, shared deep insights on Research Publications, the role of editor and what the reviewers expects in research papers. He also touched upon the research techniques and the recent advances in research in finance.

While explaining significance of research in daily life, Dr. Harpreet Singh,  principal GGNIMT said that research is not only an invaluable tool for building on crucial knowledge, but also it is also the most reliable way to understand the complexities of various issues of life. The research driven decisions help in making better choices in personal and professional lives, he added. He explained that the data are immense, but skill to derive relevant information needs scientific skills.
