The Department of Hotel Management of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi, Ludhiana organized a webinar on “Food & Nutrition amid Covid -19 – Myths & Reality”
More than two hundred participants including students, professionals and academicians joined the session to break the Myths and to learn the realities of how the food industry works.The webinar on Food & Nutrition amid Covid -19 – Myths & Reality was inaugurated by Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT. He stressed upon that no foods or dietary supplements can prevent COVID-19 infection, but by maintaining a healthy diet we can keep our immune system strong for fighting the disease. He also discussed that during these difficult times, it has become essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. S.P Singh, President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council (GKEC) and Former Vice- Chancellor, GNDU, Amristar welcomed the valuable resource persons, eminent guests & participants to the webinar. He coined that eating the right kinds of foods, in the right amounts, is very crucial for our health. COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot in the daily lives of people. One needs to be smart enough to handle the unusual situations and problems phased in this sector, he opined.
Ms Shantimani Sathwara, Head Dept. Of Hotel management, GGNIMT, presented the rationale of the webinar she touched upon that today’s consumers ask questions about the nutritional value and health benefits of food. They are aware of the role of proper diet which play an important role in maintaining and promoting good health, especially in the time of this covid-19 pandemic. Looking at the ongoing demand many hotels and food joints have added health and immunity booster food and drinks to their menus.

He discussed on Personal Food Habits Develop as Part of One’s Social and Cultural Heritage As well As Individual Lifestyle and Environment. He emphasized on Lifestyle includes the behavior and activities that make up your daily life. He also talked about the Impact of modern Lifestyle and its Trends in society.
Mr. Itender Pal Singh, GTM & NPI Quality Nutrition at Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Gurugram. He deliberated in length on the impact of COVID on Food industry and how people shifted their food preferences. He also elaborated on the various new Food products floating the market specific to their added nutritional values.
Dr. Harpreet, Principal GGNIMT proposed the vote of thanks and concluded the session. He said that breaking old habits and creating healthy ones can be challenging and even discouraging at times. However, it’s not impossible. He concluded the webinar with notes that one can find different ways to be healthier and happier life.
