Department of Hotel Management of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi, Ludhiana organized a webinar on Contactless guest experience & commitment to guest safety.

More than two hundred participants including students, professionals and academicians joined the session to learn how the hospitality industry is going contactless and gearing up for all new world.

Dr. S.P Singh, President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council (GKEC) and Former Vice- Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amristar welcomed the valuable resource persons, eminent guests & participants to the webinar. He coined that today the hospitality industry facing a new challenge: in just a few weeks, the coronavirus completely shifted the mindset of the masses and people no longer feel safe in public spaces. One needs to be smart enough to handle the unusual situations and problems phased in this sector, he opined.

Prof. Gaurav Kashyap., Assistant Professor UIHTM (University institute of hotel and tourism management) Panjab University Chandigarh and Managing Director and C.E.O (ESTHM,  Zirakpur). He discussed on the impact of COVID-19 on the hotel industry. He emphasized on understanding their role in providing the solutions needed to help the industry operate through this next phase of the pandemic. He also talked about the how the latest economic and social trends are affecting the management of hotels.

Abhishek Sharma, Revenue & Room Division Manager, Jaypee Hotels and Resorts Mussoorie, Uttrakhand. He deliberated in length on the latest trends in hotels with special reference to contactless service. He also elaborated on the effect of such services on the day to day hotel operations and guest experience.

The webinar on Contactless guest experience & commitment to guest safety was inaugurated by Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT. He stressed upon that even more than a sense of comfort and style, the quality of the welcome, or even the level of service, hotel guests always want, to feel safe and secure in their hotel. He also discussed that during these difficult times, it is impossible to predict if and when people will feel safe to gather once again.

Shantimani Sathwara, Head Dept. Hotel management, GGNIMT, presented the rationale of the webinar she touched upon that For hotels it is necessary to identify the various touch points of a traveler so that they get the opportunity to engage with the guests. Developing a customer journey mapping which is outlining the various stages a guest goes through right from finding a hotel for the booking, check-in process, in-house experience, payment options and checking out of the hotel only to keep coming back to the property, she added.

Dr. Harpreet, Principal GGNIMT proposed the vote of thanks and concluded the session. He said that there are several solutions with hotel owners and operators to provide guests with an immediate sense of safety and well-being that are relatively quick, easy to implement, cost-effective and flexible. He concluded the webinar with notes that one can find different ways to be healthier and happier life.
