Dr.Sarabjeet Singh Renuka, Prof & Head, Department of Journalism, PAU advised students at GGN Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines to be proud of their mother tongue as it was pivotal for their development as successful individuals and professionals. He also advised them to study not only their own mother language but also understand other native languages, to have a finer understanding of the diversity of our nation, Dr. Sarabjeet was speaking on the occasion of International Mother Language Day celebrated at GGNIMT by holding multiple competitions’ including declamation, essay writing, poster making, collage making both in the physical and the electronic mode. More than two hundred students from different classes competed for honours both on an individual and class basis.
Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director GGNIMT emphasized that the Ma Boli Divas was celebrated by their institution to encourage the students to speak and also write in their Mother Language with pride as it is a medium that is natural to their expression and emotions. This event was jointly organized by Rotary Club of GGNIMT and NSS Unit of GGNIMT. He also appreciated the efforts of Dr. Vijay Rajan, Dr. Charanjeet Singh, Prof. Jagmeet Singh & Prof. Priya Arora for motivating and mentoring the students. Dr. Parvinder Singh, Principal GGNIMT advised the students to hone their multi lingual skills in addition to technical and professional skills for success as professionals in the globalised world.
The college conducted inter class competition ‘Meri Maa Boli, Mera Maan, Meri Bhasha, Meri Pehchaan’. Various events namely Collage Making, Poster Making, E-Collage Making, Declamation and Essay Writing in Hindi and Punjabi respectively were conducted. Reetika a student of MBA 2 bagged first position in Collage Making. She mentioned “Such activities enhances our confidence and also make us aware about importance of our mother tongue”. Nitin a student of BCA6 bagged 1st position in poster making, Muskan Gupta from MBA 4 bagged first position in declamation in Hindi language and Rohit from MBA 4 in Punjabi language respectively. Sangeeta from BCom second semester secured second position in essay writing in Hindi language and Loveneet in Punjabi language respectively. Parminder Kaur bagged 1st position in a E-collage making where by the students had to build a collage at Microsoft Word. She shared her viewpoints saying ‘Our generation can stay connected to our roots through such endeavours by college’.
