Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT) Civil Lines organized a webinar on ‘Menstrual Hygiene and Health Management’ for its female students and faculty members today. Objective of the webinar was to address a critical health care subject pertaining to women health which is ignored due to taboos associated with it. Rationale for the webinar was introduced by Dr Ramandeep Kaur, Senior Faculty Member, Department of Computer Applications by asserting that teenage girls should be made aware about menstrual and health hygiene enabling them to start their menstrual journey in a healthy way. She emphasized that further said that society needs to address the issues of menstrual hygiene scientifically, rationale and in a humane manner than believing in myths and associated perceptions about cleanliness during the periods. Megha Kaushik, Manager and Resourced Person from Unicharm addressed the students and talked about menstrual hygiene and health management. Megha made the students aware about healthy and unhealthy menstrual cycles, when and to whom consult for any menstrual problems. She advised the students to understand that, menstrual hygiene can only be maintained with open mind. People need to come up and talk about their health openly. Periods are normal and part of life and they should be talked about it just like the way it is. She urged the students to workout daily, pursue healthy eating habits and also developing good hobbies. Dr. Harminder Kaur, Head, Department of Business Management proposed vote of thanks for the knowledge shared by the resource person. She asserted that not only females but also males should be made equally aware about menstruation and related facts. The session was followed by a Q&A query session in which Priya an MBA student enquired about PCOD and PCOS. Further, Annapurna from MBA 2 asked about the benefits if any of consuming caffeine during Menstrual days
