The event was organized by The Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology to discuss the mythological/historical references in four books of Major Harbans Singh in Gurbani. Chaired by Dr. Gurdev Singh Sidhu, former Vice Chairman, Punjab School Educational Board, Mohali. S. Inderpal Singh, Director, Nankana Sahib Educational Trust and Dr. BalwinderPal Singh, Professor, G.H.G. Khalsa College, Gurusar Sudhar attended as a speaker. At the beginning of the event, Dr. S.P. Singh, former Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council formally addressed everyone as ‘Ji Aayaan’. He said that the research work done by Harbans Singh on the basis of Gurbani, such works are done to get Ph.D. degree in universities. The author’s act on his retirement shows his devotion and devotion to Gurbani.
Mr. Inderpal Singh while presenting his views said that this book will be beneficial to every reader who is associated with Gurbani. It will also be helpful to understand those passages in the context of time and place in distinguishing between history and mythology. Dr. Balwinderpal Singh said that the author has studied/analyzed the historical/mythological references in different categories.
Delivering the presidential address, Dr. Gurdev Singh Sidhu said that the ancestors of writer Harbans Singh were in the Khalsa Army of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. They have prepared these books to increase the knowledge of humanity, following in the footsteps of their ancestors. These books will undoubtedly be very helpful in understanding Gurbani. He said that these informative books should also be translated into Hindi and English.
The author of these books, S. Harbans Singh, also shared his life, experiences of the creation of these books with the sources. He said that most of the time we mix historical and historical references in Gurbani and it is my intention to bring the differences between them to the readers. S. Gurpargat Singh, S. Charanjit Singh also expressed their views on the occasion. At the end of the magum, Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT was also present. He formally thanked everyone.
