MBA students of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines visited Kisan Mela at PAU, for understanding the concepts of Branding, Product Development, Display & Merchandising. This visit also enabled them to have a bird’s eye view of the agriculture sector ranging from inputs like fertilizer, seeds, pesticides, agro equipment, agrarian services and also the Finished Products being manufactured for the Rural Customers. Director Manjit Singh Chhabra appreciated the initiative as this visit helped the students to understand the Rural Customer and also the managerial initiatives of corporates while targeting this large and important customer base.
Students were guided during the visit by Prof. Ramandeep Kaur & Prof. Paramjit Singh from the Department of Business Management. They felt the visit helped the students to experience the business practices of companies. GGNIMTians not only visited the stalls of exhibitors, but also conducted video interviews to appreciate the challenges faced by the companies, their initiatives post covid, their SWOT analysis and future plans. Some of the stalls visited, were New Holland Agriculture, Apollo Tyers, Loriya Agro Equipment, Preet Combine Harvesters, Verka, K Max Energy, Paushak Super Star, Gahir Agro Industries, Markfed etc., Yogesh Garg felt the Mela was an ideal opportunity for companies to showcase their new products to a large number of prospects in a single day. Gursimran was amazed by the large range of products and services being offered to the farmers to modernize their farm practices and increase their incomes. Joban Dhillon, who had visited the Mela many times earlier, noticed a change in his perception, as up to now he had only visited as a customer, but this time he gained insights about the marketing strategies of companies. Principal Dr. Parvinder Singh, hoped this visit would give an idea about the vast ecosystem of the Agriculture Sector, Rural Customers and the Competitive strategies adopted by companies.
