Sangeet Natak Academy sponsored Theatre Workshop @ GGNIMT
Production Oriented Theatre Workshop was inaugurated by Noted Industrialist Surinder Singh Bhogal at Gujranwala Institute of Management & Technology(GGNIMT), Civil Lines, Ludhiana today. This two weeks workshop is being conducted for the students of GGNIMT, GGNIVS and theatre enthusiasts by Dastak Theatre, The Believers and GGNIMT in association with Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi. Director Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra stated the objective of this workshop is to provide GGNIMTians with an opportunity to experience and discover skills beyond their academics. In his Inaugural Address Dr. S.P.Singh, former Vice Chancellor, GNDU and President GKEC, advised the students to learn the nuances of theatre and acting as these would help them to understand complexities of situations and individuals as technical professionals.
Mentor of the Workshop Rajinder Singh, Director Dastak Theatre and an NSD Alumnus, narrated his experiences of working with leading theatre and film personalities like Pankaj Tripathi, Nawazzudin Siddiqui and Adil Hussain. He advised the students to participate in the workshop with total dedication and self belief, as in performing arts, those who are committed achieve success in the long term. Mr Surinder Singh Bhogal, in his Presidential Remarks asserted that Single Minded Pursuit of a Goal, that one is passionate about would definitely lead to excellence. He congratulated GGNIMT for exposing the technical education students to the arena of performing arts, as being a multifaceted professional contributes to success than diverting one from ones goals. Roshan, a participant expressed his gratitude to the Theatre Director Rajinder Sir for the unique methodology proposed for the workshop which would include sports, team building activities and body language. Sweety, another student was very excited to be a part of this unique initiative, as she had never imagined that she would explore theatre as a medium for self expression. Principal Dr. Parvinder Singh proposed the Vote of Thanks to the Mentors and participants of the workshop.
