“Happy enthusiastic students in academic robes with their proud academic guides, inspired by Mentors” this was the scene at GGN Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines at the Convocation 2023 for the graduating students today .The event commenced with the customary ‘academic procession’ followed by ‘Shabad Gayan’ to invoke the blessings of the almighty. Dr. S. P. Singh, President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council (GKEC) and S. Harsharan Singh Narula, Hony. General Secretary, GKEC extended a floral welcome to the worthy Chief Guest Dr. Susheel Mittal, Vice Chancellor, IKG Punjab Technical University . They also welcomed the Guest of Honour Ms.Mandeep Tangra, CEO Simba Quartz. Dr. S.P.Singh, advised the students to be inspired by the academic excellence of the Vice Chancellor Dr. Susheel Mittal and also by the sheer determination of Mandeep Tangra as she had set up multiple goals in life and put in all efforts to achieve them.
Dr. Parvinder Singh, Principal, GGNIMT read out the annual report and highlighted the Institute’s achievements with respect to academics, research, placements, cultural & sports activities.198 students of B.Com, BBA, BCA, B. Sc FD, BHMCT, MBA & MCA were then conferred upon the degrees by the dignitaries.In his Convocation Address
Dr. Susheel Mittal Vice Chancellor, IKG PTU advised the students to be prepared for a world where they would need to multitask, skill, un-skill and re-skill to cope with the challenges arising form change and disruption. He also congratulated the students on graduating from Ggnimt and IKG PTU, as both the University and also their College had continuously innovated to offer them an industry oriented academic experience. He also invited the students to share their ideas and also support PTUs initiatives for better placements by participating now and also collaborating to generate opportunities as they move up the corporate ladder.
Mandeep Tangra, CEO Simba Quartz a start up operating from her native village Tangra near Beas, Amritsar. She advised the students to not only pursue their professional goals with the perspective of personal growth and success but also analyse and contribute to society by aligning their goals with the needs of multiple stake holders. She shared her vision about reversing the trend of migration of Punjabi Youth to the West, and hoped young professionals would adopt this as a shared vision for uplifting the lives of youth in Punjab. She also asserted that no Challenge was insurmountable but at the same time one needs to analyse and execute with precision on the road to excellence.
Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director GGNIMT expressed his heart felt gratitude to the Chief Guest Dr. Susheel Mittal for inspiring the youth towards a successful life journey. He also hoped that students would emulate Ms. Mandeep Tangra by not only aiming for personal success but also contribute to society. He congratulated the students on the completion of their degrees and wished them good luck for their future endeavors.
The Convocation was followed by an alumni meet where graduating not only shared past experiences with nostalgia but also expressed their gratitude towards GGNIMT in moulding their personalities. Raghav Vij, an MBA passout, asserted, his experience as a Business student at GGNIMT was unique, as it not only made him conscious about his career goals ,but also motivated him to build on them.” Gurpreet Bhatia an MCA currently working with a start up in Noida attributed his success to continuous holistic learning and self development by participating in extra curricular and professional activities at GGNIMT.
