The Department of Fashion Design of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines Ludhiana organized an industrial visit to Sudsons Woolens Pvt Ltd., one of the leading players of the fashion world. Sudsons manufactures scarves, shawls made ups and knitted fabric. Though their main business is in the global markets, they are now also exploring domestic markets.
During the visit students were able to get a first hand exposure to different activities like knitting, designing followed by production of accessories.
GGNIMTians were advised to explore different processes and ask questions and clear their doubts by Mr. Gaurav Sood, Director. He briefed the students about the various steps involved in the quality control and also its significance for brand building.
Prof. Gurleen Kaur, Head, Fashion Department, GGNIMT said that ‘Overall, each student gained a good practical exposure about the Knitwear and Accessories Manufacturing, and this visit would help the students to have a better idea about the real world of fashion . Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director GGNIMT expressed his gratitude to Mr. Ashok Sood, Managing Director, Sudsons for very kindly facilitating the industrial visit. Principal GGNIMT Dr. Parvinder Singh hoped that Sudsons would also accept GGNIMT students for internship and placement. ‘The day was well spent in terms of gaining knowledge, facts, and insight into what goes on in making the accessories that we wear ’ expressed Gurjot. ‘This visit helped us understand challenges and opportunities in business, and this awareness would help us to plan for a career of our choice in designing, merchandising, garment productions or marketing. said Purvi, another student.
