MBA & B.Com Hons. Students of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines Ludhiana visited Agri Progress Expo an international exhibition showcasing the latest machinery and processes introduced in the agriculture and dairy sectors. This visit was organized by the Training & Placement Cell and the Institution Innovation Council of GGNIMT. Prof. Paramjit Singh, Training & Placement Coordinator accompanied the students during the industrial visit. Students were able to get a firsthand exposure to Machinery, equipment and processes being adopted by the Farmers, farm products processing units and also the dairy industry. Some of the stalls visited by the students were  Landforce, Panesar Agri Class, Shreeja Health Care, Sohna Agri Solutions, DLT Bearings, BKT Tyres, Gobind Agriculture, Sardar Industries and BKT Tyres.  Exhibitors explained the processes and also handled students’ questions about technology, cost, value addition to the farmers and also the maintenance cost of these machineries.

Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director GGNIMT hoped the visit had kindled a desire in students to explore rewarding careers in the agro based industries. He also appreciated the initiative of Training & Placement Cell in providing a holistic exposure to the students, Principal Dr. Harpreet Singh advised the students to not only seek jobs but also consider agripreneurship as although Punjab had a strong base in agriculture, very few professionally qualified students opt for agri business which offers high growth opportunities. Abhishek,  a  B.Com 6th semester student felt the day was well spent in terms of gaining knowledge, facts, and insights into new technologies used by the agriculture processing and dairy processing units. Sagar Proothi, an MBA 4th Semester student said “As I have a business background, this visit has motivated me to diversify and explore opportunities  in the agri processing or dairy processing sectors.
