Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT) and Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Vocational Studies (GGNIVS) jointly organized their annual Sports meet- Enthusia-2024 with much fervor and passion. Dr. S. P Singh, President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council and former Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University and S. Harsharan Singh Narula, General secretary, GKEC welcomed the chief guest Sandeep Rishi, IAS, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana.
Dr. S.P. Singh thanked the Chief Guest for inaugurating the games and mentioned that students would be inspired by IAS officer Sandeep, as he is a befitting role model being an upright dedicated senior officer. More than 400 students participated in the different Sports events like 100 m, 200 m, 400 m and 4 x100 m relay races, arm wrestling, Tug-of-War, Shot Put and Long jump.
The chief guest, emphasized that sports play an essential role in the overall growth and development of a student. Annual sports day, according to him, is a red letter day in each student’s life as it offered an opportunity to showcase their talent amongst their very own. While academics helps the students gain knowledge and develop their professional skills, sports enhance a students’ fitness, skill competitiveness, team work and a never say die attitude, he added. He also advised the students to consider the sports and games their trusted friend, and they should collaborate and cooperate with one another to build a law abiding society. During the event, more than hundred students participated in the march past and took the salute from the chief guest.
Some fun games like pushup challenge, lemon race and wheel barrow were also included in the event
Rupinder Singh Brar, district sports officer and Swarpreet Singh from Canada attended the closing ceremony as chief guest and guest of honour, respectively. Rupinder Singh Brar advised the students to accept their victory with humility and their defeat as an opportunity for introspection. What matters most, is your decision to participate and with patience and perseverance, achievements would follow, he added. Swarpreet Singh guided the students to aspire for greater things in life and work for it with courage and enthusiasm.
Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director GGNIMT and GGNIVS, asserted that Enthusia is a platform to imbibe among its’ students the skill to aggressively compete, yet also develop an attitude to accept both victory and defeat with humility and grace. He appreciated the students for their overwhelming response to the event.
Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal, GGNIMT emphasized that sports help develop the character and personality of a person. Apart from boosting self-confidence and bringing discipline, sports also plays a significant role in enriching the social life of an individual, he added. He also appreciated the faculty and staff for their untiring efforts in making Enthusia 2024 a success.
