Beautiful attires, peppy music, trendy accessories, stunning models created the rollicking environment at Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi, as it organised mega Fashion Extravaganza-“Fashion Icons-2024”. The event was hosted by Department of Fashion Technology of the institute.

The chief guest for the event was Supriya Jain from Rose Creations, the internationally acclaimed couturiers and awardee. Monika Jain from Rose Creations, New York City was the special guest. The event was adjudged by Rabnoor K. Sethi from Rabnoor k Sethi Designs, Jasleen Takkar from Khattons and Parmeet Walia from Majajan Designer Studio.

Dr. S. P Singh, President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council (GKEC) and former vice chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar accorded a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and congratulated the faculty and students of the department for their stupendous efforts to organise such a mega event.

The event kick started with the Fashion Show put up by the students of BSc Fashion Technology. Dressed in the attires designed by their own selves under sub themes western, indo westerns and ethnic. Designs reflecting concepts of tie and dye, Indian bridal attires, barbie land, china’s traditional attire, chikankari, virasat-e-punjab, pastel pops, art of brocades, mughal empire beauty, floral outfits and rajasthani cultural outfits, were displayed. They mesmerized the audience with their style, talent and creativity. They were appreciated for their dresses. Their vivid imagination and creativity won many accolades.

The students from department of fashion designing Karanjot Kaur won Icon Designer Female and Uday was declared Icon Designer Male. The Icon Creative Designer was Mehak and Icon Costume Designer was bagged by Neha from B.Sc. Fashion Designing.

The most scintillating moments were when immaculately dressed up models walked on the ramp wearing ethnic, western and indo-western attires studded with accessories and jewellery. As many as 90 models from all over Punjab enthralled the audience with their cat walk on the red carpet ramp with the backdrop of abstract videos coupled with aesthetically designed music and lights. Perfectly dressed up boys and girls added the touch of panache and were a great delight to the eyes. They not only showcased good looks and wit but also immense confidence and positive attitude.

The participants, who were shortlisted for the second round, impressed the Judges with their witty answers during the question answer round. Madhav and Blessings lifted the trophy of Mr. Fashion Icon and Ms. Fashion Icons respectively and also earned cash prizes. Mr. Iconic Handsome and Ms. Iconic Elegance trophy was bagged by Parampreet S. Khalsa and Ms. Isha Goyal. Sagar Pruthi and Palak received titles of Iconic Men’s & Women’s wear.

Supriya Jain addressed the gathering and inspired the budding models to believe in their dreams and confidently pursue their careers in the glamour and fashion Industry. She guided the students with the knitty gritty of the Fashion World

Monika Jain, motivated the students to do what they love the most. She said when you pursue your passion, the path to success becomes comparatively easier and shorter.

Harsharan Singh Narula, General Secretary, GKEC congratulated the participants for their wonderful performance. He appreciated the efforts of the Fashion Technology Department of GGNIMT for their meticulous arrangements and grand organizational ability.

Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director GGNIMT while talking to the media said that the event intended to provide a platform to the budding fashion professionals and to alight that fire which inspires them to join the world of fashion as professionals. It is not the classroom and laboratory work which adds to their professional development, but the organising abilities and participating opportunities add to the professional acumen of the students of BSc fashion Technology, he added.

Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal, GGNIMT thanked the Chief  Guest and said that the event provided an opportunity to the students to interact with celebrity fashion designers and learn from their role models.
