Recently, Department of Fashion Design at GGN Institute of Management and Technology

(GGNIMT) organized a Photography contest- Beauty in bloom, wherein nearly 300 hundred students from various schools and colleges participated from all across the globe. The participants were expected to click photographs of flowers and send their entries. The event attracted entries from Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Chennai and few entries from foreign countries, especially Iran too.

The theme of the event was Best home garden, Flower garden or Terrace garden. Maximum of three entries per participant was permitted. The amateur photographers showcased their creativity and photography skills which were evaluated by our experts on the basis of Subject expression, Creativity and Composition.

The event, organised by Department of Fashion Design, aimed at sensitivity people towards nature and at the same time making an attempt to keep people stay positive in these hard times. An emphasis was made to make young generation learn to appreciate the natural beauty and spring season. This event helped the students in staying happy, calm and spread positivity by connecting with nature, said Prof Gurleen Kaur and Prof Rajul Jain in their joint statement.

It was a unique experience and really exciting to look at the mother nature through a camera lense, said one of the participants from Delhi. Fisrt prize was bagged by Praguna Grover from Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, second position by Varinder Singh from Delhi University and Deep Zorawar Singh from GGNIMT and Isha Sharma from KCW, Ludhiana shared the third position. There were few more titles in the competition – Best composition grabbed by Kushnaseeb Rahanu from DAV, Hoshiarpur Most creative click by Rincal from KMV, Jalandhar Best use of colours by Pooja Rani from DAV, Hoshiarpur followed by Pooja Jain from KCW, Ludhiana, Vanshika Kapoor frm GGNIMT, Ludhiana and Priya from DAV, Hoshiarpur as consolation prize winners.

Prof. Manjit Singh Chabbra, Director GGNIMT congratulated the students for showing interest and participating in the event. Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal GGNIMT motivated and encouraged the students to be a part of more such activities in the future.
