Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi organized a signature Campaign on the occasion of “International Womens’ Day”. The NSS unit of GGNIMT led the signature campaign from its campus till Aarti Chowk. The students of MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA, B.Com(Hons.), B.Sc. (Fashion Technology) and Hotel Management participated in the event. The students made the passerbys sign a banner that read “ Every Women should be treated with Respect & Dignity”. About 700 people signed the banner, pledged to respect women and appreciated the efforts of GGNIMT.

The passers-by gave an overwhelming response to the event. They clicked photographs and posted them on their facebook pages. They even went live on their facebook ids and congratulated the Institute for this innovative initiative.

Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal, GGNIMT said that the event was conceptualized with two-fold objectives. Firstly, it intended to make Ludhiana a City where every womanis respected. Secondly, he added that GGNIMT endeavours to transform its students into responsible citizens of the country. He said event like these not only boosts the confidence of the students but also instils in them the zeal to do good for the society.

Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT while talking to media said that Women’s Day must be celebrated in schools and colleges and should also form an integral part of the curriculum to spread the awareness of women empowerment, their roles and achievements.He further said that on this occasion, we should all endeavour building a better world where men and women live harmoniously, free of violence and discrimination.

Prof. jagmeet Singh, Prof. Shubreet, Prof. Neha  and Prof. Harman mentored the event and guided the students towards a successful conclusion.

The students had a wonderful experience reaching out to people to make them a part of the signature campaign. Kamakshi, a student of BCA 1st sem, NSS volunteer said that nothing could have been better than celebrating the womanhood this way. Sahil of BCA 6th sem said that the signature campaign was a memorable event as it gave the boysan opportunity to express their respect and appreciation for women.
