Most Impressive Classroom Contest
It was nostalgia all around at GGN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY (GGNIMT), situated at Ghumar Mandi road, when the students of various classes participated in the “Most Impressive Classroom Contest “.
The objective of the event was to make students realize the historical heritage of India’s freedom struggle and to learn to respect the workplace apart from strengthening sense of belongingness with Alma Mater.
Being an Initiative by NSS unit of the college, the students from all streams like Computer applications, business management and hotel management participated in the contest.
They were made to decorate their respective classrooms with theme based posters and collages depicting contribution of freedom fighters. They also brought pots of green ornamental plants.
The idea was to sensitize them towards love for environment as well. They were feeling ecstatic as they portrayed pictures of their own achievements in academics and other activities. The event was spearheaded by Prof. Jagmeet Singh, NSS programme officer of the college.
MBA first semester was declared the overall winner for having the most impressive classroom. They had taken the theme of Baba sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar and his role in Indian freedom from the British. They utilized used soft drink plastic bottles to grow indoor plants after decorating them with various materials.
In Department of Hotel Management, Bachelor of management Studies (Hotel Management) (fifth semester) won the trophy. Similarly, BCA (first semester) and MBA (third semester) won the trophies for the best decorated classes in their respective departments.
To support ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ proposed by Central Government, they vowed to keep their classrooms neat and clean. Posters of Motivational Quotes and clean surroundings dotted the walls of the rooms and corridors. While sharing their experiences of the participation in the unique event, the students of MBA first year were unanimous in their view that it is important to make young generation realize that we should respect our freedom fighters as they sacrificed their lives for our country and now it is our duty to make our country beautiful. People of our country should serve the nation selflessly and stop polluting our minds and surroundings, said Manpreet Kaur, a student of MBA.
We should respect our freedom fighters and their feelings towards our country, emphasized Manroop, an MCA-5 student. Puja Chaudhary, MBA-3 student said that “We are making the India a better place to live” by adopting Swacch Bharat Abhiyan.
Varun Bhandari, BCA-3 student said that “today I am very happy as our institute GGNIMT has taken a great step to make our campus & surrounding clean”. Gurpreet Singh Bhatia (BCA 5) added that it was a motivating contest which really inspired us to keep our surroundings and work places clean.
Shiv, a student of BMS (Hotel Management) painted a few sketches for his classroom . He said that it was a very heartening experience and the competitions like these leave a long lasting impression on issues.
Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal, GGNIMT appreciated the effort and told that classroom is not less than a holy workplace where the values and beliefs germinate to serve nation and society.
Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT congratulated Prof. Jagmeet Singh, NSS Unit Convener and all teachers & students for organizing such a unique and meaningful activity. Such activities make students learn social and human skills apart from turning them into responsible citizens. GGNIMT” has taken a major step to make our youth aware to make our country clean and green by organizing “The most Impressive classroom” competition.
