Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT) managed by Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council (GKEC), Civil Lines Ludhiana organized an International webinar on Application of Queuing Theory. More than Two hundred participants including students, professionals, academicians and mathematicians across the globe joined the session on Application of Queuing Theory.

Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT welcomed the eminent guests & participants. He said “in today’s competitive world long waiting customer is termed as lost customer. Hence in such critical situations Queuing Theory is a solution for many.” He opinioned that in India and abroad several queuing models have been used by business houses and several services providers to retain customers for a longer period of time.

While delivering the rationale of the International webinar, Dr. Vijay Rajan discussed about basis of Queuing Theory that it is the mathematical study of waiting lines. It is very useful for analyzing the procedure of queuing of daily life of human being. Queuing theory applies not only in day to day life but also in sequence of computer programming, networks, medical field, banking sectors etc.

Dr. Mohan chaudhry, Dept of Mathematics and Computer Science, Royal Military college, Canada, talked about the History of queuing, the problems faced in solving queuing problems and the recent positive comments about root finding. “He emphasizedthat root-finding in queuing is well-structured, in the sense that the roots are distinct for most models and that their location is well-predictable, so that numerical problems are not likely to occur”.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Professor, Dept. of mathematics and statistics, Namibia University of Science and Technology, Windhoek, Namibia highlighted by focusing on the Applications of Queuing Theory on Cloud Computing. He explained to the participants the trade – off between the waiting cost and service cost in Queuing systems. He touched upon the backend functions of Cloud computing that includes management of job queues.

 Dr. Bhupender Kumar Som, Director, Lloyd Business School, Greater Noida, he elaborated on Queues for Different Customer Behaviours and explained in detail about the different Customer behaviours. He shared insights on Queuing theory that can help in developing models using various customer behaviors that can make businessman predict the performance of the business.

Dr. Parvinder Singh, HOD, Business Management GGNIMT, gaved his valedictory remarks by expressing satisfaction that the objectives of this international webinar were met. He expressed his hope that this webinar was a valuable learning experience for all the participants.
